treating stress and anxiety

Anxiety is a very common reason why people seek talk therapy. I believe there are a lot of things we can address in therapy to reduce your symptoms of anxiety. In graduate school, my thesis involved studying social anxiety in college students. Through my years in community mental health and in university counseling center, I gained a great deal of experience treating patients with concerns about stress or anxiety disorders.

In treating anxiety, I often utilize a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach, but I am also aware of other psychodynamic or family systems influences that could be affecting your anxiety and important to address in therapy. Treatment usually includes thoroughly exploring the situations in which you experience anxiety. We will discuss the emotions and thoughts that you experience in these situations. We also focus on developing coping techniques and exploring any potential underlying issues.
